Job Description:
Senior Accountant DESCRIPTION Critical position with
responsibilities for multiple accounting functions within
department including fixed assets, grant supervision and reporting,
employee travel and District Activity Fund accounts. Prepare
journal entries, reconcile accounts and perform detail analytical
review. Essential Functions Responsible for accurate accounting of
District fixed assets including purchases and disposals within the
District, resulting in accurate asset tracking in the subsidiary
database.Develop annual fixed asset financial reports for auditors
used in the audit and in the District financial statements and
footnotes.Account for deposits and expenditures in District
Activity Accounts including monthly bank reconciliation. Prepare
all related audit schedules at year-end.Review and approve for
payment all District Travel claims for compliance with District
Policy.Responsible for proper accounting and reporting for District
Federal Programs and other grants.Administer District Purchase Card
program.Complete annual reports for IPEDS, cost per program, and
respond to requests for additional special projects to support the
fiscal operations of the District.Perform Account Reconciliations
and account analysis as needed.Develop and disseminate various
reports to enable District stakeholders to evaluate and make
decisions for the best interests of the District.Perform tasks and
duties relevant to any of various roles or responsibilities
assigned by supervision and determined by management to be
appropriate for this position; comply with all policy, procedure,
regulation and other communicated requirements as may be in effect
for the workgroup or worksite. POSITION REQUIREMENTS This job
requires an accounting background with a minimum of three years
experience in monthly inventory cycle accounting; financial
analysis, fixed asset, and general ledger accounting. Expertise in
GAAP accounting. Extensive use of Excel. Bilingual is a plus
FULL-TIME/PART-TIME Full-Time SHIFT Days EDUCATION Bachelors degree
in Accounting required. SALARY SCHEDULE SPMS HIRING RANGE Dependent
on experience and education, plus additional $7,200 annual
compensation for salary-in-lieu of dependent benefit coverage.
