Job Description:
Coffeyville Public Schools is currently accepting applications
for a Lead Elementary School Principal for the 2020-2021 school
year. Master's degree in Building Leadership is required. Starting
salary of $88,000. Additional salary commensurate on experience.
Job Summary:The building administrator is directly responsible to
the Superintendent of Schools for the general administration,
supervision, and curriculum improvement program in his/her
building. The building administrator, also known as the building
principal, is the chief administrator of the building or school to
which he/she is assigned.Please direct all questions to Dr. Craig
Correll, Superintendent of Schools: Functions:Use of leadership,
supervisory, and administrative skills, to manage assigned school
so as to promote the educational development of each
studentProvides supervisory leadership for teachers and other
employees, evaluates the efficiency of their services and reports
such evaluations as necessary.Allocate resources to meet the
educational needs of the teaching and building staff.Oversee the
building budget and works with the Business Manager for needed
resources.Complete and maintain necessary personnel and budget
reports.Accepts a commitment to the success of each student in the
building.Responsible for building student handbook.Advises the
Superintendent of Schools on matters related to school organization
to the end that all educational needs of students can be met within
a racially integrated/balanced environment, and monitors all
curricular and extra-curricular offerings in the school to ensure
full opportunity for participation of all students regardless of
their racial, economic or gender status.Implements Board policies
and administrative rules and regulations relating to the
school.Attends recruiting trips.Responsibilities:Establishes an
effective, positive learning climate in the school.Establishes and
communicates frequently, high expectations for students and
staff.Models expectations for students and staff.Establishes a team
concept in developing, designing and initiating programs to meet
needs of the school.Organizes and administers the school with
priority given to tasks that directly impact improvement of
instruction.Establishes an administrative structure that maximizes
instruction and minimizes disruptions to instruction.Evaluates and
supervises all teachers and develops growth plans based on the
evaluation process with teacher input.Develops plans, programs, and
systems to enhance students' success in the building.Creates a
school climate of change and innovation to best meet students'
educational needs; and encourages staff members in their efforts to
implement change and innovations in the school.Actively involves
students and parents in the student's education.Delivers to the
community a positive, ongoing public relations program.Develops and
fosters an open and honest communication system.Encourages and
supports the mission of the district.Organizes and prepares short-
and long-term goals for the building, soliciting input from
students, teachers, support personnel, community, and
parents.Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper
functioning of the school.Assumes responsibility for all official
school correspondence and news releases.Engages in actively
advocating, promoting, and securing the rights of all persons
within the school.Advises the district office on activities in the
school and supervises the submission of required reports.Reports to
appropriate central office administrative personnel regarding the
needs of the school with respect to personnel, equipment, supplies,
and curriculum.Assumes responsibility for the validity, adequacy
and safekeeping of all records that may be required by law or local
policy.Assists in the recruitment, selection, retention, promotion
and assignment of all personnel under his/her direction.Assumes
responsibility for the general quality of instruction in the
assigned school.Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct,
and health of students.Plans, organizes, and directs implementation
of all school activities.Assumes responsibility for the safety and
administration of the school plant.Keeps abreast of changes and
developments in the profession by attending professional meetings,
reading professional journals and other publications, and
discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the
field.Exercises decisive leadership in crisis situations.Works
cooperatively with the Superintendent of Schools in the development
and follow-through of own Professional Growth Plans.Serves on the
district's Administrative Council.Delegates authority and tasks as
deemed appropriate.Performs any and all other duties as directed by
the Superintendent of Schools.Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities:Working knowledge of computer software used in the
district.Working knowledge of basic educational functions and
terminology.Ability to deal tactfully with the staff and
public.Oversee, direct, and be familiar with current Human Resource
policies.Ability to supervise and evaluate assigned staff.Working
knowledge of Human Resource laws and policies.Ability to obtain
essential resources necessary to perform job tasks.Present a
professional and positive image of USD 445.Effectively maintain
confidentiality in all areas of job functions.Ability to work under
pressure.Qualifications:Valid Kansas education licenses issued by
the Kansas Department of Education to server as a school
