The Mfg. Eng. 3 position provides technical leadership for all processes and equipment within assigned Product teams and/or as assigned across the plant. The associate must be hands on and enjoy working on the production floor and be capable of communicating with all levels of the organization. The associate must be results oriented, using tools such as, lean six sigma methodology, project tracking, reporting and presenting, and validation to align plant compliance for EU-MDR requirements. Essential / Key Job Responsibilities (including supervisory and/or fiscal): Works with cross-functional teams to remediate gaps identified that are related to EU-MDR requirements and meets all deliverables in line with plant, division, and business goals. Design to Manufacturing Transfer: supports necessary product updates in line with EU-MDR requirements while maintaining design intent and smooth transfer to manufacturing. Support and/or lead internally generated changes (EU-MDR - related to process, equipment, fixturing, and testing changes, etc.) Complete projects on time and at budget. Manage capital spend. Identify and support new opportunities to meet EU-MDR timeline and requirements. Support all new projects/products and ensure processes and equipment are designed for sustainable long-term manufacturing at a competitive standard cost. Manage projects through design or change control procedures. Develop and execute validation plans and protocols. Support Site Master Validation Planning specific to EU-MDR identified assignments. Responsible for developing and sustaining manufacturing procedures (BOMs, RTR, SPMs, Local Drawings, etc.). Design, implement, and sustain manufacturing layouts to promote single piece flow. Support preventative maintenance system to maintain acceptable product quality and/or validated state (support identified validations for EU-MDR requirements). Troubleshoot equipment and process issues. Challenge all major equipment and process failures with root cause analysis and improvement plans through to resolution. Promote visual management systems, pull manufacturing, single piece flow, and continuous improvement (OEE, TPM, SPC, etc.) through lean six sigma methodology. Sustain/develop/establish capable processes and equipment. Understand and support PFMEA and Test Method Validations. Communicate and maintain favorable rapport with team leaders, engineering, maintenance, quality, and production associates. Provide technical leadership and coaching to engineering, maintenance, and production associates. Train associates as required. Be able to lead technicians and/or engineers not assigned as direct reports. Participates and may own 5S elements at plant related to EU-MDR. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. May require working off shift or weekends when needed. May be on-call for related EU-MDR activities. Performs a variety of routine and non-routine work as assigned. Works within clearly defined SOPs and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines. Required Qualifications: Demonstrated to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair or lead electrical/mechanical problems through to resolution. Well-developed interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to read and understand mechanical/electrical/electronic drawings and schematic diagrams. Proven problem-solving skills. Well-developed communication skills. Proven knowledge of FDA and site regulations for design and change control or in an industry regulated equivalent. Demonstrated ability to lead projects and events. Demonstrated Lean and Six Sigma experience especially (in SPC, DOE, OEE, TPM, single piece flow, visual management, pull manufacturing, and 5S). Ability to learn robotic, vision, controls, and automation equipment. Process validation experience. PFMEA. Project management. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of robotics, vision systems, controls, and automation equipment. Proficient with Solid Works, Minitab, Microsoft Office, and SAP. Well-developed technical writing skills. Demonstrated mechanical proficiency. Demonstrated to think logically. Demonstrated professional behavior. Ability to develop new skills. Serve plant with excellent customer service. Green Belt or Black Belt certification. Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs. Engineering experience supporting a medical device manufacturer in molding, cleaning, grinding, assembly, or packaging processes. (ISO 13485, 12CFR820, ISO14971) Education and/or Experience: B.S. Engineering with 5 years of manufacturing experience, minimum. Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use sight, and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls, and office equipment. The employee frequently is required to verbally communicate with other associates. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch. Work Environment: The employee may be in an open cubicle environment. Candidate must be able to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
