The Chief Financial Officer reports to the Headmaster and is a member of the Administrative Team at Company along with the School Principal, Middle School Principal, Curriculum Director, Dean of Students, Director of Advancement, Director of Athletics, Director of Campus Ministries, and Director of Security.----JOB DESCRIPTION The candidate will provide leadership to, and actively participate in the school---s finance, accounting, and administration functions including:--

  • Facilities and Capital ImprovementsRequirements
    • Budgeting/Forecasting --- Prepare and submit operating budgets and financial forecasts for review by the Headmaster, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee of the Board, and prepare periodic reports and analysis on actual performance in relation to budget/forecast. Prepare additional analysis to aid in the establishment of tuition rates by the Headmaster, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors. Prepare cash flow projections.
    • Financial/Accounting Policy --- Develop, recommend, and supervise the implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and controls governing financial, accounting, and administrative functions.
    • Financial Reporting - Supervise and participate in the development and preparation of financial statements and reports for the school, and provide associated interpretations and analyses for the Headmaster, Board of Directors, and appropriate committees of the Board.
    • Endowment Management and Reporting --- Provide coordination to the management of endowment funds and complete associated financial reporting, including ensuring that proper records are maintained on each school endowment/major gift/fund. Work with the Foundation Board in the management of the endowment fund. Responsible for the preparation of tax returns.--
    • Cost Management - Provide support and assistance to department heads in the ongoing monitoring and analysis of operating costs and identify and recommend initiatives and actions to improve productivity, increase efficiency and reduce or contain costs.
    • Independent Audit - Plan and coordinate the annual audit and prepare or supervise the preparation of schedules and information, especially as required to facilitate audit activities and reduce associated fees. Draft related financial statements and all required footnote disclosures.
    • Information Technology - Provide direction to the information technology function, through the Director of Technology, including the assessment of information needs and requirements, selection and implementation of hardware and software, and the ongoing training and support of users.
    • Risk Management --- Serve as the risk manager for the school, evaluating and recommending insurance coverages, negotiating premiums, selecting insurance carriers, filing claims, being the insurance liaison, working with analyses and reports in connection with claims.
    • HR Administration - Serve as the school's chief human resources officer, with responsibility for the development and interpretation of human resources policies and practices, and management of the school's compensation and benefits plans/programs. Oversee annual preparation of all employee contracts.
    • Office Support - Manage the administrative support personnel for specific departments, coordinate the performance appraisal and personnel administration process as applied to support personnel, serve as a facilitator in the resolution of employee relations problems that occur, and initiate or coordinate corrective actions which need to be applied.
    • Facilities Maintenance and Capital Improvement Projects --- Serve on the Facilities Improvement Committee, review quotes for repairs and new projects, advise on facilities projects, and maintain a facilities improvement fund. Research capital project files for vendors when repairs are needed.
    • Bookstore - Provide direction to school's bookstore operations, working with and through the Bookstore Manager.
    • Cafeteria - Provide direction to cafeteria operations, working with and through the Cafeteria Manager.--
    • Contracts --- Review and approve all school contracts. Recommend/negotiate necessary changes. Have signature authority on the majority of contracts. Review all major quotes.
    • Mobile Phones --- Coordinate and contract for mobile phone service.
    • Banking Relations --- Coordinate all banking relationships. Manage school---s short-term cash investments.
    • Facilities Expansion --- Participate on committees related to facilities expansion including design, costing, fundraising, and financing. Prepare or review analysis when needed to facilitate any of these areas.--
    • Auxiliary Companies --- Responsible for accounting records, financial statements, and tax returns of the Cascia Parent Faculty Association, and related fund-raising events, and the Company Alumni Association.--
    • Financial Assistance --- Prepare schedules necessary and participate in the financial assistance committee to determine financial assistance awards to students. Oversee the process to notify applicants of awards and the acceptance process.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Accounting or a related discipline with at least ten years of progressively responsible related experience, including in the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets, interpretation of financial statements and reports, and preparation of special projections and analyses as required for board and management planning and decision making. It will be important for the candidate to have knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and practices, tax issues for non-profit organizations, including implications of charitable monetary or object donations.-- Applicants should have a working knowledge of accounting software programs. The selected must have the desire and ability to advance the Augustinian values of the school. The ability to communicate effectively with board members, school representatives, parents, vendors, and financial services communities is essential.-- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: MBA or related Master---s Degree, CPA certification, and experience as a senior financial officer with demonstrated leadership in the creation of the operating plan, process compilations, reporting and analysis, internal and external financial reporting, internal control framework, and contract negotiations, review and approval.----CANDIDATE PROFILE

      • Analytical Skill - High level of conceptual and analytical skill, especially as required in developing improved procedures, resolving problems, and completing assignments with limited resources.
      • Resourcefulness - Ability to think independently, approach problems and issues with an inquiring mind, and to "think outside the box" in identifying alternatives and developing and developing conclusions.
      • Management Capability - Demonstrated skill in managing and working with and through others to accomplish desired results, with demonstrated proficiency in, or potential for, managing a diverse range of financial and administrative functions.
      • Technology Proficiency - Proficiency in the use of technology.
