  • High School Employment Type Full time Job Description ABOUT TULSA HONOR ACADEMY The mission of Tulsa Honor Academy (THA) Charter School is to equip all scholars with the academic skills, content knowledge, and ethical character required for college graduation and life success. Our vision at Tulsa Honor Academy is to develop successful college graduates who will become well-rounded, engaged individuals who will transform their communities. Tulsa Honor Academy ensures that 100% of scholars are on a path to go to and graduate from a college of their choice, beginning in the fifth grade. Tulsa Honor Academy opened its doors in 2015 to 92 fifth grade scholars.--In 2019, THA opened its high school in portable buildings near our middle--school.--In 2020, we reached a milestone, and opened our new building that will serve as a permanent home for THA scholars, beginning with our high schoolers.--In 2021, we opened additional sixth and seventh grade classrooms in our new building, serving about 440 fifth through eighth grade scholars from our middle school, 375 ninth through eleventh grade scholars in our new building, and 125 sixth through seventh graders in our new building. In the 2022-2023 school year, THA will serve approximately 440 fifth through eighth graders at THA Middle School, 495 ninth through twelfth graders at THA High School and 225 sixth through eighth graders at Flores Middle School. Tulsa Honor Academy is proud of the many accolades our scholars and school have received, including the following:
      • Receiving an A on the state report card for the 2018-2019 school year (the last reported year), the only middle school in the Tulsa Metro to receive an A
      • Being recognized as the 2018 Oklahoma Charter School of the Year
      • Receiving an award from the Oklahoma Public School Resource Center for Outstanding Growth in MAP Reading and Math Tulsa Honor Academy is growing, and we are looking for a Chief Academic Officer in our next stage of development. The Chief Academic Officer will manage the instructional program, supervise instructional leaders, and provide clear vision and insight into growing and strengthening a strong secondary academic program. This candidate will be an instructional leader who has the ability to build upon the existing infrastructure to help our students be successful in their academics. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Chief Academic Officer is responsible for ensuring all stakeholders are best positioned to meet their annual academic goals throughout the organization, through development of curriculum and assessments, planning and implementation of professional development, accurate and timely data analysis, and strong coaching. The area of responsibility for this role is very wide, thus requires thorough knowledge of all areas of academics.--This candidate must be an excellent leader who can support THA in continuing to exceed its annual academic goals. The ideal candidate has leadership experience in a high-performing charter school. *Depending on availability and timing, the candidate may start earlier than the 2022-2023 school year. Due to the rigorous nature of this search and the process, this role likely will not follow our typical candidate review/selection timelines.           • Strong commitment to, belief in, and alignment with mission and vision of school
          • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
          • 5+ years experience in educational leadership
          • Experience as School Principal preferred
          • Charter school experience preferred
          • Excellent verbal and written skills
          • Experience analyzing data and using data to inform decisions
          • Strong organizational skills
          • Openness to feedback and desire to continue development as professional
          • Outstanding communication and people skills
          • Experience leading and coaching high-performing teams
          • Ability to oversee compliance with school policies and the success of instructional programs
          • Proven track record developing and delivering rigorous academic programs within challenging student settings
          • Strong leadership and execution abilities including goal-setting, strategic planning, prioritization and capacity-building ROLE OVERVIEW
            • Inspire a world-class vision for academic excellence, while tracking, evaluating and supporting continuous improvement throughout the pipeline that ultimately prepares 100% of our students to thrive and complete degrees at competitive four-year universities
            • Collaborate with executive-level management in the development of performance goals and long-term academic plans
            • Coach School Principals to ensure achievement of vision for academic excellence
            • Set strategic academic goals and analyze and interpret related data
            • Evaluate the instructional program and teaching effectiveness
            • Facilitate shared best practices across the network
            • Keep abreast of successful instructional practices
            • Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service.
            • Lead a high performing team that will provide high impact academic capacity-building and supports to meet the THA's annual goals
            • Develop an articulated academic program from 5th through 12th grades
            • Oversee teacher training, development, and evaluation SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
              • Lead teachers and instructional leaders in developing a strong academic culture aligned with the vision, mission and values of the school
              • Create a culture of excellence, teamwork and collaboration amongst the staff, teachers, students and families
              • Ensure that standardized testing is implemented and used at the beginning and end of the school year
              • Serve as network-wide assessment coordinator, supporting assessment coordinators at each school
              • Implement data-driven instructional practices and lead discussions about student performance
              • Work with teachers and instructional leaders to improve their teaching practice through coaching, professional development, modeling, and collaborative planning
              • Provide high-quality curricular training and resources to staff
              • Ensure consistency in instruction and practice across the network
              • Ensure learning environment and classroom instruction maximizes student learning
              • Monitor the progress of all students
              • Supervise and mentor teachers and instructional leaders
