We have an exciting opportunity to join our health information management team as an HIM Specialist.

POSITION SUMMARY
The HIM Specialist may perform in a float capacity, ensuring coverage and training at all facilities within the market for processing functions. Process fetal monitor strips, assist with external auditors for legacy EHR, market fax queue, autopsy and insurance reports, as well as legal hold chart requests. The HIM Specialist may be responsible for properly releasing protected health information (PHI) and adhering to the organization's policies and procedures and HIPAA. The HIM Specialist must have working knowledge of all HIM Technician duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as processing float which includes travel to all hospitals in the market.
Provides required processing training for new and current staff and departments for all facilities within the market.
Communicates with HIM Data Integrity team to fix charts at processing level.
Assist HIM Unbilled team with missing documentation still within processing area.
Serve as point of contact for scanning vendor for routine maintenance.
Storage retention, including logging, ordering and supplies.
Provides guidance and support to families to ensure completion of birth certificates and fetal death certificates as mandated by State Law; works with State Registrar, Funeral Home Directors, Staff Physicians and Nurses to provide information needed to complete Vital Records.
Complete and notarize Acknowledgement of Paternity statement forms as requested by patients. Send all required documentation to Vital Statistics within required
Abstracts newborn records and performs data entry of birth certificate information into the state birth registry system within required timeframe.
Process the Fetal Monitor strips appropriately, assists external auditors for legacy systems through the entire process, legal chart requests in the required time frame, insurance correspondence letters, autopsy reports and market fax queue.
May be required to perform release of information functions as outlined in company policy with a 98% accuracy rate.
Performs all HIM Technician duties as required.
Meet productivity and quality expectations on a consistent basis.
May be required to perform basic ROI duties, including walk-ins and Radiology CD's as applicable.
Attend required department meetings, as well as conducting presentation at the request of HIM or Administrative leader.
Assist, produce and prepare provider activity reports, educational material for Resident orientation and finalize Resident exit forms.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:
Preferred: Two (2) years in HIM or similar experience

Requirements:
Proof of Vaccination
