The Child Mental Health (MH) and Wellness Specialist is responsible for working with team of specialists and coaches to develop and execute a state-wide system of staff, family and child MH and wellness strategies and tools that would support diverse early care and education (ECE) organizations. Ideally,they will create trauma-informed organizational, Center and classroom environments, integrate resilience focused practices, establish internal and external MH referral and support systems, and reduce stigma for accessing MH services on behalf of child, family and staff MH and well-being. The Child MH and Wellness Specialist will take the lead in developing child and classroom focused MH and wellness training and technical assistance workshops, tools and resources, that could include but would not be limited to synchronous and asynchronous PD workshops, in-person training, statewide professional learning communities, as well as cross-program group coaching opportunities. The rolewould also research, identify and curate directories of local resources available to provide culturally responsive and trauma-informed child MH services and consultative support.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:--- Works in collaboration with MH and Wellness Specialist team to develop a tiered approach to promoting trauma informed, culturally competent staff and family MH and wellness strategies to support a diverse range of ECE programs, including a tailored scope and sequence of strategies and activities that can be adapted to meet the needs of diverse community and agency contexts.--- Curates a set of universal resources that support ECE professionals to recognize the signs of and mitigating the resulting behaviors brought on by mental, social and emotional health issues, including trauma.--- Identifies national best practices to promote child MH and wellbeing in ECE environments, including scope and sequence of professional development activities to build teacher capacity to build inclusive classrooms that promote child well-being Works with team to research current family and staff MH and wellness models, including HR staff wellness programs.--- Works with team to research current child MH and wellness models.--- Develops training and technical assistance workshops, tools, and implementation manuals to support child MH and Wellness strategy dissemination.--- Works with team to develop and oversee network wide professional learning communities.--- Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.
Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in ECE with coursework in inclusion and providing trauma-informed classroom support to children, Master's preferred.
  • Preferred licensed or certified MH state provider with expertise in child behavioral and MH concerns
  • At least five years of experience in creating training and technical assistance materials to support trauma informed organizational, Center and/or classroom environments
  • Lived experience or demonstrated skill working at the intersection of trauma and resilience in the lives of children, families and communities (including understanding impact of institutionalized racism on health, MH and well-being of communities of color, and historical communal supports that have served to buffer some of the negative effects of systemic racism)
  • Experience developing guidance to build MH systems of referral and support for children, including knowledge of Child Study team, Part C and IEP/IFSP state protocols
  • Experience in instructional design, professional development and/or training facilitation (related to MH preferred), including needs analysis and developing scope and sequence of content
    This is a remote position. The annual salary for this position is $65,000.
