- Responsibilities What You'll Do The Phlebotomy Supervisor
coordinates and organizes the phlebotomy department and laboratory
office to insure their functioning according to laboratory and
hospital policies and procedures. This position Directs and
supervises employees in the technical performance of their daily
work to achieve excellent patient care and customer service. The
successful candidate will be able to:" - Evaluate employment
applications and conducts interviews for open positions. Assure
adequate orientation and training of employees in the performance
of their jobs so as to minimize technical errors and maximize
attainment of service goals. Schedule employees for efficient and
effective coverage for optimal patient care. Monitor workload and
productivity continually. Makes decisions to flex personnel during
a shift based on productivity standards and patient care needs
Monitor department resources and orders supplies as needed.
Maintaining department compliance with budget. Maintain timely and
effective quality assurance monitors of department and personnel
performance and service. Responsible for enforcement of
departmental and organizational policies and procedures to promote
effective operations. Apply appropriate discipline in a timely,
fair, and consistent manner according to the organization's
progressive discipline model. Serve as a resource for other
phlebotomy personnel for questions and problem solving. Assist
personnel gain/improve skills to improve lab productivity.
Qualifications What You'll Bring High school diploma or GED
required 3-5 years of general Lab experience required Effective
communication and demonstration of the ability to assess and
interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each
patient's age specific needs and provide the care needed by
pediatric, adolescent, young adult, middle-aged and geriatric
patient groups. Demonstration of knowledge of cultural diversity,
the ability to provide care and service and exhibit the
communication skill necessary to interact effectively with the
customer. Demonstration of compliance with infection control
guidelines and the hospital chemical hygiene plan including proper
use of personal protective equipment. Procurement of specimens
through venous, arterial, and micro-sampling techniques, assuring
specimens are collected in a proficient, timely manner following
all established policies and procedures for phlebotomy." -
