Job Description:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the well-being and care of all residents assigned to him or her during his or her shift under the direction of the Resident Care Director. He or she provides personal care services following the residents' care plan or physician's directions, assesses residents and responds to and reports any changes in condition, distributes and charts medications, and responds to emergencies.

Provides care following established nursing service objectives and standards
Ensures that all safety and infection control practices are followed
Distributes and documents medications (including narcotics) according to established standards and regulations
Responds to emergency situations
Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
Communicates with residents and families regarding treatment and care
Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
Performs other duties as assigned


Degree from an accredited LPN or LVN program
Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse
At least one year of experience in an assisted living community preferred
Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Proficient computer and internet skills
Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
