The Registered Nurse (RN or LPN) will report directly to the Nursing Supervisor and will be responsible for assessing, planning, evaluating, implementing, and documenting clinical care in accordance with OHI standards to deliver efficient, effective and quality patient care. ResponsibilitiesResponsible for a focus assessment of implanted cardiac device (referred to devices) function and programming. This includes assessment of patient symptoms related to cardiac arrhythmias, device function/malfunction, and device programming.-- --Interrogates devices and provides nursing analysis and interpretation of data from Implanted Cardiac Defibrillators (ICD), pacemakers, and implanted loop recorders (ILR). Provides nursing recommendations for further care, evaluation, and device programming.-- This includes multiple device models and device manufactures.--Conducts a variety of device related tests to evaluate device function/malfunction in the clinic setting, including outreach sites.--The ability to do this work is dependent on knowing and understanding some of the following, but is not limited to,-- ventricular or atrial high rate episodes, atrial arrhythmia suppression algorithms and therapies, auto threshold and sensing diagnostics, A-V and V-V timing, CRT pacing algorithms, minimizing ventricular pacing algorithms, rate drop analysis, sensor behavior, upper rate behavior, trending data, lead analysis, mode switch modalities, battery analysis, SVT discriminators, ATP and shock therapies, far R wave suppression, histograms, rhythm analysis, intracardiac electrograms, and various other functions and data from the device.-- --All device evaluation is done in conjunction with the assessment of the physical and emotional symptoms to ensure patient safety and well-being.--Conducts, investigates, analyzes data as he/she extracts it from the device and then presents information and recommendations to the Electrophysiologist, Cardiologist, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and other physicians as appropriate.--Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team through relation-based care to support a collaborative team environment and ensures a culture of safety.--Provides direct patient care and delegates aspects of care to other team members, as necessary, that is consistent with their level of preparation (licensure, credentials, etc) and job description utilizing time and resources effectively. --Teaches and counsels patients and their families about the device capabilities and its impact on their well-being post implant and ongoing, including education on home monitoring systems.--Position may include mandatory participation in various schedules during business hours to provide adequate device clinic service to the clinic.--Collects data and performs data entry into Pacemate, remote monitoring systems, and the electronic medical record. Determines/schedules next evaluation based on clinical assessment.--Provides compassionate and professional patient and family communication in person, via telephone, and via MyChart.--Performs to the highest quality standards while maintaining their assigned FTE and works to be fiscally responsible to the organization.--Has continued growth and knowledge of cardiac physiology and enhancement of device sophistication.-- Understands the capabilities and intricacies of a variety of devices QualificationsRequirements:--RN, LPN, XP Current ACLS and BLSEffective verbal and written skillsEnhanced technologic skills----Preferred experience:--
  • Three years of recent cardiology work
  • Proficiency in arrhythmia analysis and interpretation
  • Knowledge of the management and analysis of ICD, Pacemakers, CRT, and Implanted loop recorder devices is preferred, but not required.
