Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: The Payroll Administrator oversees all aspects associated with the preparation, generation and distribution of payroll for all employees. This position will operate in a Human Resources Department supporting business needs and working collaboratively with management to ensure the proper implementation of company strategy and objectives. This includes processing, recordkeeping, collecting and entering timesheets, processing accounting transactions related to payroll, wage garnishments, levies, calculating bonuses and commissions, auditing and reporting. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensures accurate preparation and balancing of all biweekly payrolls. Investigates and reports any questionable entries. Reviews and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets. Deducts all garnishments and other special payroll tasks. Coordinates efforts between payroll and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data. Prepares and distributes detailed reports such as labor, overtime, leave balances, head count and retirement contributions. Manages payroll system and acts as liaison with vendor for problem resolution and error correction. Manages timecards, time entry and timekeeping software and systems. Completes new employee hires timely and accurately. Administers and notifies management of all non-routine unscheduled payroll transitions; including stop-payment orders of checks, issuing replacement checks and corrections. Prepares and inputs approved special pays such as bonuses or commissions. Assists with routine and annual audits. Prepares, administers and maintains quarterly and fiscal year-end reports and ensure they are reconciled for accuracy and completeness of information. Maintains employee records and ensures that changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis. Reviews changes for proper authorization and adherence to compliance with federal, state, local and FLSA regulations. Responds accordingly to garnishments, unemployment claims, workman's compensation and annual OSHA and EEOC reports. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to interact effectively with individuals inside and outside of the organization requiring reasonable tact, discretion, professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent numeracy and analytical skills. In-depth understanding of payroll procedures, laws, taxes and best practices. Excellent problem solving/judgment skills; high attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently with limited supervision and adapt to evolving scope of responsibilities. Exercise critical-thinking methods to identify and solve problems. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Successful completion of Health Care Sanctions background check. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.Five plus years of experience in payroll. Previous experience in ADP payroll software strongly preferred. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
