Description
Summary: Assists with directing the training and development
efforts to maximize the potential of the company's human resources.
This position involves developing new training programs and/or
recommending vendor training programs that will meet the specific
training needs of different areas of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Researches, plans, and organizes company training programs.
Conducts training programs and seminars for clerical, supervisory,
technical, operational, and management personnel. Programs include:
Intro to Trucking, Time Management, New Hire Orientation, Microsoft
Office Suite, Train the Road Trainer, Strategic Selling Skills,
Strategic Customer Service (email writing), Bloodborne Pathogen,
Active Shooter, Sexual Harassment and Reasonable Suspicion
Training.
Facilitates Driver and Office Book Clubs and Speech training.
Assists outside consultants with conducting various programs for
higher-level management and executive officer personnel.
Facilitates New Hire job shadows and training including best
practices for Microsoft systems and professional email writing.
Provides input for identifying and defining present and future
training needs by assisting with coordinating and conducting needs
analysis.
Facilitates talent reviews for succession planning and coordinates
professional development plans to prepare internal candidates for
higher level positions.
Writes material for new training programs & department manuals;
reviews, evaluates, and modifies existing and proposed programs and
recommends appropriate changes.
Assists with designing and administering training and development
surveys to determine the effectiveness of training programs, as
well as tracking attendance.
Keeps abreast of new techniques and developments in training by
maintaining contact with others in the training field (e.g.,
professional association and educational group members).
Benchmarks and attends trainings outside the company to think
forward on how to support our company in being a leading carrier
and top workplace, and to protect us from risk.
Maintains the Employee Handbook and non-driving policies.
Facilitates new signatures and training on policies as needed.
Assists IT in building user-friendly training for system upgrades
and changes, and in training the teams and being available for
go-live.
Updates and facilitates training and materials on the company
Intranet.
Assists in company event planning, team building and remote
employee engagement, the annual review process, and other Employee
Services duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to evaluate and research several elements and
alternatives.
Ability to present research and make recommendations in a succinct
and professional manner.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to reprioritize to meet multiple deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple projects with varying degrees of
complexity and urgency.
Ability to communicate challenges and enlist help when needed.
Ability to travel out of state 5-10% of the year.
Must have excellent English writing and speaking skills.
Must be skilled with software packages such as Microsoft Suite.
Must be willing to work in the office 4 out of 5 work days.
English/Spanish Bilingual strongly preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
At least three (3) years' related experience in corporate training,
training content creation, or group facilitation.
