Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the
Senior Director of Community Engagement is responsible for the
development and implementation of initiatives which identify and
cultivate prospects to ensure a strong base of ongoing financial
support in alignment with goals and priorities as approved by the
CEO and Board of Trustees. Creates and executes strategies to
establish and sustain a base of annual individual donors. Serves as
a member of the leadership team. Supervises the development
department. SUPlans goals and objectives
Position Qualifications: Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s
degree. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years combined leadership,
communications, and major gift fundraising experience. Experience
carrying final responsibility for the quality and content of
fund-raising initiatives in a non-profit setting. Experience in
government relations-related role a plus.
Skills and Abilities: Expertise in relationship building;
specialized knowledge related to donor-centered major gift
fundraising; polished communicator who expresses ideas, thoughts,
and concepts clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing;
exceptional writing and proofreading skills, experience in
developing and organizing proposals for varying audiences;
demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to
prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and
external stakeholders; a multi-tasker with the ability to be
flexible in a fast-paced environment;
Experience in online fundraising, nonprofit advocacy, membership
cultivation, and marketing. Personal qualities of integrity,
credibility, collaboration, and communication.
Certificates, Licenses, and/or registrations: Possession of a
valid Oklahoma driver’s license and current vehicle insurance
Training: Commitment to training programs that maximize
individual and organization goals across the agency, including best
practices in development and communications. Complete understanding
of all organization’s programs and services and any training deemed
appropriate and necessary by the supervisor. Willingness to
participate in opportunities to develop as a professional.
Other: Proficient with technology with the ability to optimize
use of web-based social media for fundraising. Proficient with MS
Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and
databases. Donor Perfect experience a plus. Basic image editing
skills, familiarity with Adobe, Photoshop, or similar tools a plus.
Strong knowledge of grant administration. Understanding of United
Way partner agency requirements.
Position Requirements: Leadership
Develop new and unique ways, in partnership with programs and
finance, to improve the revenue generating capacity of the
organization and to create new opportunities.
Partner with and support Community Engagement Committee, act as
liaison between development and the board, and take responsibility
for the implementation of the organization’s fundraising plan.
Monitor expenses and analyze budget reports on fund development
and work with other leadership to understand the needs of the
organization and establish goals
Develop and encourage growth in other team members through
vision, collaboration and communication.
Build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the
mission and fundraising goals of the organization.
Anticipate, understand and respond to the needs of donors to
meet or exceed their expectations within organization
Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying
opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal (RFPs),
grants and attending strategy meetings.
Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target
dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and
transmittal of grants.
Create written content and documentation to fulfill the
necessary requirement of various funding bodies to formally seek
grant funding on behalf of their agency.
Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of
