Description Tulsa Responds is seeking a community-minded, dynamic problem solver, big-picture thinker with a compassionate heart for the Tulsa community to serve as Executive Director. Candidates should have experience leading an organization, and ideally building a non-profit or business from the ground up. Self-motivation is a must, as is the ability to operationalize and manage multiple projects. The right candidate is one who can create a strategic vision for a nascent organization and be able to articulate that vision to stakeholders and funding partners. Existing relationships within Tulsa and knowledge of the city's civic, philanthropic, and non-profit ecosystems is highly desirable.

About Tulsa Responds

Tulsa Responds began as a joint effort between Tulsa Economic Development Corporation (TEDC), the George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF), Atento Capital LLC (Atento Capital) and the City of Tulsa. Tulsa Responds began April 1st, 2020 in an effort to help Tulsa's small businesses apply for emergency loans but has since evolved to address a variety of needs in the community. The underlying goal of each project is to bring every possible federal tax dollar back to Tulsa and to help Tulsa overcome challenges caused by the pandemic.

Tulsa Responds will soon become an independent organization and will continue to provide a flexible, remote workforce to partner organizations as needed. In addition to addressing urgent or seasonal workforce needs, Tulsa Responds will serve as a training ground for contract laborers with the intent of placing them in permanent positions with local businesses or businesses seeking to open offices in Tulsa.

Executive Director Responsibilities

The Executive Director will report directly to Suzanne Schreiber at George Kaiser Family Foundation. The Executive Director essential functions include the following:

Meet with potential partners to assess project and workforce needs

Determine feasibility and propose short-term project parameters and budget for approval

Upon approval, manage the full cycle of projects from concept to implementation including design, creation and training of materials

Establish and maintain metrics and key performance indicators that measure project outcomes and demonstrate value

Effectively communicate with partners regularly on full on reported metrics, challenges, successes and opportunities as well as any other areas necessary

Spearhead the process of establishing a non-profit including the completion of all legal documents; create and maintain budget, profit and loss documentation, and report out on monthly financials to funding partners.

Develop and maintain relationships with people throughout the community in order to grow future projects including contract to permanent talent pipelines, and future collaborations.

Work with the Director of Operations to manage and develop the contract to long term talent project including both administrative tasks such as interviews, references and check ins as well as broader scope project workflow, results and recommendations

Create and demonstrate a culture of inclusion, engagement and positivity including employee development both internally and within the talent project

Develop and maintain strategic plan for those in need of access to Tulsa Responds including standalone website and connection to 211

Pursue all funding opportunities for Tulsa Responds both public and private

Due to COVID, candidates must be comfortable conducting some of these duties remotely via Zoom, while others will be performed in the workplace with the Director of Operations.

Position Requirements Desired Skills and Abilities

Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, comfort in working with a variety of personality types and work styles

Proficient in GSuite and adept with technology, computer software, and a demonstrated ability to learn new programs/technology

Capacity to keep multiple projects in motion, effectively manage multiple teams, and prioritize competing needs

Intentionality around creating a positive, respectful culture in which team is empowered to do their best individual work without sacrificing alignment in values or regard for established processes

Enjoy managing a team remotely and constantly onboarding new talent

Talent for quickly analyzing information and making balanced, educated decisions while keeping interests of stakeholders in mind

Excellent verbal and written communication

Education and Experience Requirements:

B.A. or B.S. degree

Experience managing a non-profit

At least 2 years’ experience in non-profit work

Prior experience with full cycle recruitment, preferably 3+ years

Preferred: Experience in people management, particularly in the non-profit or recruiting sectors

Experience building and leading teams

Ability to flex in a quickly changing environment

Experience driving mission-driven organizations
