Job Description:

The Electrical Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate design drawings of electrical schematics and layouts and maintaining pipeline facility records.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position but is not meant to be all Inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.1. Complies with DOT and OSHA health, safety and environmental requirements and follows safety philosophy and procedures developed by the Company including: applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, and accepted safe work practices, the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems, and the reporting of workplace hazards and injury or illness arising from workplace activities; observes the workplace to identify conditions or behaviors that should be corrected and takes appropriate action.2. Creates new or updates existing design drawings of electrical circuits from existing schematic drawings or engineering instruction.3. Creates design drawing packages from engineer's conceptual drawings and ensures that packages support electrical codes and company specifications.4. Manages new design projects from design computations to design verification; assigns work to contract electrical drafting resources, reviews work for accuracy and productivity, and answers technical questions.5. Creates conduit and cable schedules to meet project needs in accordance with company specification s.6. Creates panel design layouts, including control panels and electrical distribu tion panels to meet project needs in accordance with company specifications and equipment requirements.7. Creates P drawings using CADWorx P Pro software; maintains database and shares updates with TMA to support DOT device inspection sheets, including device tags.8. Creates and maintains electric and instrumentation updates in drafting specifications.9. Creates and maintains valve and equipment tag numbering.10. Interprets redlines from engineers and/or inspectors and updates the completed drawing set.11 . Provides guidance to Electro-Mechanical Technicians by interpreting electrical drawings and answering related questions to support company standards and electrical codes..1 2. Develops budget and schedule for electrical design projects; compiles a list of bill of materials (BOM) needed on a projects, completes and submits requisitions for approval or purchases material directly, and confirms product specifications and availability with vendors.13. Maintains electrical drawing lists, obsolete drawing files, existing CAD files, original drawing files, and project lists.14. Assembles and distributes prints of revised drawings according to distribution list and as requested.Education and ExperienceA Bachelor's degree in Drafting/Engineering Technology or related field or the equivalent in experience and a minimum of five years' experience utilizing CAD/AutoCAD is required. Additional experience in Electrical Technology or drafting and design in CADWorx P Pro and Vault is also required.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to actively engage in safe behavior and understand and follow the principles and methods related to pipeline and workplace safety as established by the Company.
